Insurance for public liability is one of the more common forms of insurance because it is much less expensive that getting full coverage. There are several different forms of this insurance as liability will relate to vehicle insurance and business insurance.
For automobile insurance the required amount of insurance you need is public liability as this covers any losses for the other party involved in an incident. If your car is damaged or you are hurt than the insurance will not cover any of these costs.
General public liability is for businesses and you can also have professional public liability and employer liability, also known as D & O liability. D&O liability covers an errors by the directors and officers so the entire company is not held responsible if the officers should fail to act. Employer’s liability also goes by the name of workers compensation and all business must have this type of insurance coverage. This insurance actually protects the employer should a worker get hurt on the job the insurance pays all costs. Otherwise the employee would be entitled to sue for loses.
Professional public liability is very similar to malpractice insurance. Basically if you are an expert in your field and for some reason your opinion or information causes losses than the insurance will cover any loss if someone should want to sue because of your given professional opinion.
Basically this insurance covers any type a claim someone of the public or a customer may submit. Generally these claims relate to damage, injury or death whether it is from an accident or just negligence. This also covers problems due to the design or manufacture of the product if it is defective.
The cost of public liability insurance will vary depending on the types of benefits and limitations you set. As with any insurance you should do some comparison shopping to find the best policy for your needs.
